Piecing together the puzzles of what has happened in the past with a structure, and how to remediate it going forward, is one of the specialties of MTA. We provide on site inspections and forensics services for single-family, multi-family and commercial buildings. Below is a sampling of recent projects.
Structural assessment of cracked and leaning foundation retaining wall. Residence was in the process of a sale and a structural inspection for wall stability and recommendations going forward was required. We provided an immediate inspection, thorough report and follow up answers to both buyer and seller.
Structural inspection and assessment of existing cast in place concrete post-fire. After a fire consumed this residential structure and the remaining foundation and property was under going a sale, we were brought in to provide a consultation on the structural condition of the existing materials for usability.
Structural inspection and existing conditions assessment of long-term moisture damage related to cantilever balconies. When siding and door replacement on this existing structure revealed some concerns regarding degradation of exterior wall framing materials, MTA was called on to provide on site inspections and structural re-framing recommendations.
After historic flooding in the summer of 2024, water-related damage to many historic structures in Vermont and New Hampshire followed. This private residence experienced significant damage to an existing foundation wall and MTA provided insurance-related forensics structural work.
During extreme summer high winds in New Hampshire, several large trees fell and struck this private residence. MTA provided structural inspection services to assess extent of structural damage, monitor for broader implications and provide recommendations on remediation.
This late 1700s gem of a private residence in Fairlee, VT is experiencing several tell tale signs of framing and foundation degradation and MTA was called upon to assess the existing conditions and provide reinforcement designs to maintain the building's longevity.
